Why do we use present simple? Look at these examples: 1) She needs a doctor. 2) He rides a bike. 3) They usually come late.

a) to talk about routines, habits, and facts

b) to describe people, places, and things

c) to say something exists or is present

d) to describe an action happening now or for a period of time

We use present simple a) to talk about routines, habits, and facts.

Positive Sentence:
Subject + Present Simple Verb

 

For (s)he/it, add -s or -es
He likes to go to the park.
We drive to Montreal on the weekends.
Negative Sentence:
Subject + Does not/Doesn’t + Base form of verb
