7 Aspects of Pronunciation
My courses will teach you about listening and speaking, and about the 7 aspects of pronunciation.
Word Stress – We say HAPP-y, not happ-Y, saying “HAPP” louder, longer and clearer.
Rhythm or Sentence Stress – We stress the most important words in a sentence such as nouns, adjectives and verbs, like MIGUEL will PLAY in the PARK.
Vowels & Consonant Sounds – Can you say “ship” and “sheep” differently?
Linking – We join together sounds to speak faster and smoother, so “Stop eating junk food” can sound like “Sto…peating.”
Intonation – Our voice goes up and down, like How are you? and Is that your bag?
Reductions – We don’t say every sound and we don’t always say them clearly, like “need to” can sound like “needa” or “want to” can sound like “wanna.”
Feelings & Attitude – Practice understanding different emotions and even jokes in the courses.
